This four-week class is designed to enhance your improvisation skills by focusing on emotional expression, the use of silence, and object work to create more engaging and impactful scenes.
Emotions & Object Work Intensive is an elective class for improvisers of all levels, from Level 1 to Graduates. The instructor is Jessica Brown.
Throughout the course, students will learn how to utilize physicality to convey details, vary emotional intensity for dramatic effect, and understand how silence can effectively build tension. You will delve into the depths of your emotional and physical improvisation through dynamic object work, allowing you to discover new layers of expression and connection. The class will culminate in an impactful practice of silent improvisation, where participants will master the art of storytelling through vivid emotions and dynamic physical expression inspired by music.
Course Topics:
Actively “listening” with all senses
Improving physical or emotional choices to heighten scenes
Making bold physical moves to endow significant character and/or location details
Using emotion to establish and support your character’s point of view
Improving your confidence when entering a scene/group scene without an initiation
Embracing silence as a valid creative choice
